  • A Fresh Start in the Garden with John Lewis

    Posted on by givingabit team

Dare we say it, but the sun certainly seems to have his hat on a bit more often recently! The team at givingabit have been venturing out into the garden, and looking for inspiration to spruce it all up a bit!

Our friends at John Lewis have helped out, they have such an extensive range of outdoor living ideas that we have been spoilt for choice! We imagine the perfect day……

You wake up in the morning, the sun is out, the coffee is on – nothing better to rest your espresso on than the John Lewis Naples Outdoor Coffee Table £70 with five star reviews.

Whilst enjoying your coffee, planning the lunch for later, when your friends and family are joining you, relax on your Naples Sunlounger (£125) which looks great with your coffee table.

There will be ten of us for lunch, and we can all sit comfortably around our new Gloster Azore Outdoor Furniture, we love the modern feel, with sharp angles yet soft curves. They have plenty to choose from in this range too from £49 – £2,799.

We love to barby, and even more so on our new Weber Spirit Classic E210 2 burner Gas Barbecue. It has 5 star reviews and a 25 year guarantee! Good job we ordered all the food and had it delivered earlier in the week from Waitrose. All sorted for a perfect day – time for another coffee I think.

Plan your perfect outdoor living space, and create a donation at the same time. John Lewis - collect from store, deliver to home, or deliver to your closest Waitrose.

  • from babies with love

    Posted on by givingabit team

Cecilia Crossley is the founder of from babies with love, the unique brand that sells beautiful baby clothes and donates 100% of its profits to orphaned and abandoned children.  Here she tells us about the children their profits support, and why she decided to set up this groundbreaking company:

My inspiration for setting up from babies with love came from becoming a mum.  My eldest son was born just before Christmas; when the charity appeal adverts came on, with him in my arms, I felt a new level of emotion, and more determined than ever to do something.  Becoming a parent fuelled my belief that every baby should have a fair start in life, no matter where they are born.

I was out shopping for my son’s clothes when I thought to myself: if I could buy beautiful baby clothes and know the profit helps children in need, why would I buy anywhere else? The answer is I wouldn’t! So I set up from babies with love, selling beautiful organic baby clothes for 0-2 year olds – but instead of profits going to shareholders, 100% of our profit goes to orphaned and abandoned children.

For example, rewind the clock 2 years. Mariama was a newborn baby whose mother had sadly passed away and whose family was not in a position to look after her. She was born in The Gambia – one of the poorest countries in the world.  But then her life changed for the better, she was taken in by an SOS Children’s Village.

Fast forward to the present day; Mariama, now a lovely little girl, is living with her new family – she has a new, permanent home, where she will grow up safely, loved by her SOS mother, brothers and sisters, and will go to school.

We donate our profit to support Mariama and many babies like her. After just one year we’re already supporting ten babies, across Africa, Latin America and South Asia. Our profit supports them to live, be loved and cared for, in dedicated children’s villages run by our partner charity SOS Children. We also use our profit to help build and run nursery schools in the villages; we’re currently supporting the nurseries in Chipata, Zambia (where 1 in every 6 children is orphaned or abandoned) and in Lilongwe, Malawi.

from babies with love’s offering is unique – you buy beautiful baby clothes and enjoy helping babies in need. Our gorgeous range includes chic baby grows, t-shirts, dresses, and accessories. What’s more by shopping through Giving A Bit you can support your chosen charity too. It’s a win-win and a huge smile for everyone; click here to browse their beautiful baby clothes today!
